A bit of "truss" work makes it look like sshd stat()'s for the presence
of /usr/X11/bin/xauth, and then uses that to setup the X11 authentication
passed through from the remote system.  So my current hypothesis is that
once I've got an xauth binary somewhere, a symlink to it from /usr/X11/bin/
will be in order.
