I really like the ASRock C2750D4I it just stinks theres really no release date in stone on that board yet... (been waiting for a while)... Starting to debate wether or not they will release it by the EOY..

I personally didnt want to go the Supermicro route but i am starting to run out of time to get my storage migrated from the server its on (in VM form) over to a more isolated box (VM'ed or Straight up) either way i am looking to start a new design with 4TB Drives b/c my 2TB Drive RaidZ2 config has about 20% capacity left so i know i am hitting performance issues with it and i want ZIL + SLOG in the new design...

Thanks for that info that basically put the nail in the coffin for the Supermicro... either its gonna be an Low Power I3 Design or that ASRock Avaton model...

Matt

A similar board might work: ASRock's C2750D4I, reviewed at Serve The

That has Intel i210 NICs which are supported in recent illumos
(including the upcoming OmniOS r151008), and the first six SATA ports
come from the C2750, so presumably they'll attach to ahci(7D). Also
it will be easier to find ECC modules for the full-size DIMM slots
than for the SODIMMs on the Supermicro.
