[OmniOS-discuss] hostid missing or corrupt

hello,

noticed the following messages just before the login prompt
after bootup;
WARNING: hostid missing or corrupt on line 3 of /etc/hostid
WARNING: Unable to set hostid

upon opening /etc/hostid, found a line stating;
# DO NOT EDIT

how do i rectify the problem (if any)?
