yes, I thought that at first, but I need that because otherwise I get this:

ld: fatal: file dbdimp.o: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
ld: fatal: file processing errors. No output written to
blib/arch/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.so

because:

# /usr/local/mysql/5.6/bin/mysql_config --cflags
-I/usr/local/mysql/5.6/include  -m64  -fPIC -g -fabi-version=2
-fno-omit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing
