I don't think so. Afaik, these Supermicro systems have a backplane, 
which connects the drives to the two HBAs, but there's no expander 
involved. Also, I remember that format had shown these disks back when I 
installed the system and set up the iSCSI target/LUNs. If I remember 
correctly, all I did was to perform some partitioning on those SSDs, as 
I did with all drives, in that system.

That setup has also been rock-solid in terms of reliability and 
performance, so no complaints there. Those are my work-horses for my OVM 
cluster and any issue regarding reliability or stability would not have 
gone unnoticed. ;)
