[OmniOS-discuss] replacing in-kernel CIFS server with samba

Greetings,
For several reasons, I'd like to experiment with using samba4 instead of
the built in cifs server. I know I can build samba from source and have
found some resources for doing that, but I wondered what I'm supposed to do
about the built in cifs server, is it sufficient just to disable that
service? Or do I need to remove it, and if so, any pointers on how to do
that?
Thanks a ton,
