You may wish to see if bloody (soon to be r151022) may cure what ails you on this front.  Some bugfixes pulled-in from SmartOS during the r151021 bloody cycle that may be relevant:

    OS-5845 lx aio performance improvements and move into kernel
    OS-5981 move eventfd in-kernel
    OS-5990 fix for OS-5987 causes worker thread to mishandle some signals
    OS-5991 refactor aio to remove exitlwp brand hook
    OS-5992 harden aio worker thread signal handling
    OS-5261 lxbrand eventfd AIO overflow behavior is incorrect
    OS-6016 lxbrand poll(2) wants implicit events

Can't guarantee it'll help, but it won't hurt.
