 We scrub periodically but relatively infrequently (roughly once every
four weeks). That particular scrub was a manual one that I started by
hand after noticing the latest round of missing snapshots, because
scrubbing seemed like a good idea at that point (it was the second
occurrence we'd spotted, soon followed by a third covered in the same
email, and we've now had a fourth). The snapshots didn't reappear when
the scrub finished (and the scrub reported no errors).
