Hey everybody!
There's a new bloody update. I've updated both release media AND the pkg repo.
"uname -v" show omnios-master-b67a892, and there has been only one change to omnios-build (see below).
With this, we have two development-y items left for this bloody cycle:
- Attempt to make ipadm(1M) work in an LX zone.
- Link some sets of packages with the new world order of "pkg update -r" such that some packages will ALWAYS be updated in linked-image zones, regardless of "-r" or not.
So let's proceed to what's new this update:
* First off, we have severed the use of the "caiman" repo with OmniOS. The following packages are now obsolete, and have been removed from various consolidation manifests:
install/distribution-constructor
install/installadm
install/js2ai
system/install
system/install/auto-install
system/install/auto-install/auto-install-common
system/install/configuration
system/install/media/internal
system/install/tests
system/install/text-install
system/library/boot-management
system/library/install
The prior bloody used an improved kayak to generate all release media (not just PXE and ZFS send streams). This version is now available in the "kayak" package, with new files existing in /usr/share/kayak/.
* The du(1) command now has -A, for actual-file-size measuring. (Thanks to OmniTI's own Dale Ghent for this one!)
* New in ZFS: Multi-threaded spa_sync(). I'm seeing 15-minute time savings on OmniOS-on-demand builds (4:30-ish down to 4:15-ish) I believe are due to this fix.
* A small USB3 bugfix that should make more USB3 drives recognizable.
* LX zones now have NFS client lockd support. (From Joyent.)
Happy updating!
Dan
