Message-ID: <20181011185523.GA3592@mandarb.com> Our AD forest admins just disabled SMBv1 support this morning and our AD joined OmniOSce boxes (freshly upgraded to r151026w) can no longer talk to the forest. I have tried removing and re-staging the computer object in AD but it still won't join. The command I run: root at metro-sequoia:~/ # smbadm join -y -u my-admin-account OUR.DOMAIN.EDU Enter domain password: Joining OUR.DOMAIN.EDU ... this may take a minute ... failed to join domain OUR.DOMAIN.EDU using AD server: oudc6c.our.domain.edu Failed getting initial credentials. (Wrong password?) Please refer to the service log for more information. And yes, I've retried multiple times to make sure I did not mess up my password. Full debug log below. Any clues? Ah, I see. Thank you for the pointer, we had not been able to find that with our Google searches. Looks like we will have to switch to Samba. Yes, unfortunately illumos does not yet support SMB 2 - however there is currently an active review of a change to add this so support may appear in the next month or so, and will likely be backported to at least OmniOS r151028 which will be released at the start of November. Thanks. illumos (and OmniOS) has general SMB2 support but specifically not the client part; it still can only act as an SMB1 client. There's a pull request open at https://github.com/illumos/illumos-gate/pull/37 that is working on adding SMB 2.1 client support and it's making good progress. Once that gets merged, we will likely get it into at least the upcoming r151028. It's pointing at the filesystem used for the zone itself; the thing that is populated when you run `zoneadm -z install`. Thanks for any comments, Phil I was writing to you before about this, and I suggested you to check the driver: root at omni:~# prtconf -D | grep pci1077 pci1077,138, instance #0 (driver name: qlc) pci1077,138, instance #1 (driver name: qlc) root at omni:~# If your pci addr still is pci1077? Which it was according to your previous mail in this issue. Did you check that? If so, what was the output? If it shows up empty, no driver is attached, and I'm sure no driver is available in omnios. I can't tell about the other Illumos distros, perhaps you check with Nexenta, they should at least know if there is an Illumos driver or not... Rgrds Johan I haven't worked much with Emulex, I always thought they were complicated, and people have reported problems with their driver. Anyway, what I know there should(was) be a driver file in: /kernel/drv/emlxs.conf. Check it out, it might give something.... Message-ID: <20181025224835.GA31373@mandarb.com> We have a Solaris system that is AD joined using `smbadm join'. This works pretty well for allowing Windows users to SMB mount the data pool (full control with ACLs). Due to firewall requirements we would also like to allow users to have SFTP access, but we need the same ACLs to apply. Is there an easy way to pull this off? I have read and re-read the instructions at , but it seems that since our boxes are already AD joined most of the steps, including a user account for each OmniOSce system, should not be required. All help/tips/pointers greatly appreciated. Thanks, Omen -- Tomorrow will be canceled due to lack of interest. However, I have learned that Samba has its own internal notification system, which will notify a Samba client of any file event it wants to listen to. Usually, the client sends such a request for the shares it is logging into to get notified as soon as something happens on that share. However, this service is kind of omnipotent and cna be leveraged to extract file events for all the shares this instance of Samba hosts. > Cheers, > Andries Cheers, Stephan > On 2018-10-22 11:26, Stephan Budach wrote: > > Hi, > > > I was wondering, if anyone is using a current version of SAMBA on > > their omniosce?
