So here's the current state, which is still broken.

I tried installing BRCMbge however OmniOS complains that SUNWbge is
already installed.  I've tried every combination of pkgrm I can think of
to no avail - I cannot uninstall SUNWbge for the life of me.

I tried installing BRCMbxne however I get a message that the maximum
number of instances of BRCMbxne is already installed.

Sigh.
