Hello,
We're thinking of making the switch from OpenIndiana to OmniOS. In
order to minimize downtime, we'd like to be able to install OmniOS to an
alternate boot environment, if possible. I tried (unsuccessfully) to
use a procedure similar to the one outlined on the OpenIndiana wiki for
upgrading OpenSolaris to OpenIndiana:
http://wiki.openindiana.org/oi/Upgrading+from+OpenSolaris
This is how it went:
# uname -v
oi_151a7
# pkg set-publisher -P -g http://pkg.omniti.com/omnios/release/ omnios
# pkg publisher
PUBLISHER TYPE STATUS URI
omnios origin online
http://pkg.omniti.com/omnios/release/
openindiana.org origin online
http://pkg.openindiana.org/dev/
# pkg list -af entire

# pkg update -f --be-name omnios entire at 11-0.151004
Creating Plan
pkg update: The following patterns only matched packages that are from
publishers other than that which supplied the already installed version
of this package
entire at 11-0.151004: omnios
I get the same results trying "pkg install ..." instead of "pkg update ..."
Is it possible to do this? If so, what do I need to do?
Thanks for your help,
Kevin
