If you have physical access to the server, can you try a ps/2 keyboard and see 
if it accepts keyboard input?

I ran into something similar on CentOS using a non standard kernel where it 
did not support usb devices. In that case, the kvm in the ilom emulates a usb 
keyboard and I couldn't type anything on the console. I had to physically go 
to the server and plug in a ps/2 keyboard so that I could work on it.
