Hello all,

The /usr/share/lib/zoneinfo/src/README mentions that the Solaris zoneinfo is based on Olson tzdata 2010k.

Is that true or was the data since then updated and just not the readme?

Is it safe to remove this directory and replace by either vanilla rebuild of a recent tzdata (i.e. 2014j) or some transformation thereof to make it more solaris-compatible? 

Or should it be overlaid by whatever the new version provides?

The set of filenames is noticeably different between the two variants (installed in OS and manually compiled with zic)...

Also, do the distributions like OmniOS or OI, or the illumos-gate itself, track the IANA (exOlson) tzdata to provide some recent version in the os/net builds?
