Pure speculation on my part, as I don't have any kit on hand; just
going by the specs I see. I looked over Supermicro's new X10 lineup
yesterday (http://www.supermicro.com/products/nfo/Xeon_X10_E5.cfm).
You'll be fine with most NIC parts, GbE (typically Intel i350) and 10G
(X540). Don't believe the 40G stuff is supported yet, but it has come
up on the illumos dev list, though I can't find a link at the moment.
C612 SATA ports should "just work" as they are AHCI. LSI
SAS3008-based HBAs should work with currently-available bloody and the
upcoming r151012 release. Unsure if the RAID-enabled 3108 would
work... likely not, but we don't care about RAID parts right? :)
NVMe will not work yet (but watch https://www.illumos.org/issues/4053
if you're interested in helping). I'm pretty ignorant when it comes
to the various Infiniband options too, so anyone more familiar with
that stuff should chime in.
Hope that helps,
Eric
