Oh this is great news.  Both that the r151010u disk is working for someone else (older version of it had... brokenness), and that it installs on the Haswell-E platform.

The "10g" may actually be a 40g with 4x 10G ports.  If it's the part I'm thinking about, it's the "i40e", which illumos does not yet support.  Do you know what 1GigE "igb" part it is?  Is it I350, or something newer?

It *should* just make them USB2, and I'm glad the BIOS lets you disable that.  We don't have USB3 in illumos yet either.

This is a dual-socket board, you said?  I'd be interested to know if you see any odd latencies - I've seen {Sandy,Ivy} Bridge-E boards occasionally exhibit odd latencies with 10GigE, but it was very difficult to characterize and reproduce.

Nonetheless, this is good news!
