Hi,
On a Supermicro X10DRI with dual E5-2650V3 and 64GB DDR4 2133 RDIMM ram, I was able to install OmniOS r151010u with no noticeable problems.
The board has 1g nics and those worked fine (igb). I was supposed to get a 10g version of the board but my boss sold it before I had a chance to test it out.
The sata ports worked in ahci mode.
I was not able to try the USB3 but there was options in the bios to disable USB3. Not sure if this disables the ports altogether or just makes them USB2.
For a pretty basic server board, everything seemed to work right on boot.

Not to my knowledge.

1.) I'd stick with a GigE mobo instead of a 40GigE one. The i40e driver isn't ported to illumos yet, and I'm not sure if this time we'll get Intel's help. Having said that, there is community interest, but no known driver bits are available.
2.) USB3 isn't supported on illumos yet as well. I don't know if these mobos can have their USB set to USB2 only or not, or whether or not even USB3 is a problem.
3.) Eric covered the SATA ports and the NVMe things.
