IIRC, you have a potentially problematic bge on this guy. Can you boot without bge temporarily? I know it'll kill networking on your box, but can you edit the "unix" grub line and add:
-B disable-bge
after "/platform/..../unix ".
IF you can get there, we may be able to proceed.
