I will also be glad to help with packaging. 

O+P is already running a repo on pkg.oetiker.ch but we have not widely publicized it.

My main use of omnios is as a server for kvm an lxzones, so I would also be willing to help with porting updates from joyent unfortunately I have no experience with this at
all.
