[OmniOS-discuss] Followon review --> Changes that allow illumos-gate to build on OmniOS

Two other things:

1.) I believe these changes could go back independently of 4719, but without the benefit of helping OmniOS directly.

2.) Also, I understand I'll need to file bugs for these diffs.
